BucketBudget was built because budgeting shouldn't feel like punishment.

There's a whole psychology behind how we think about money, and a lot of it gets shaped early. I grew up in a family of self-employed dairy farmers who scrutinized every dollar trying to build something lasting. Those early years shaped my relationship with money in ways I didn't fully understand until much later.

That mindset followed me into adulthood, and for years budgeting felt restrictive, overwhelming, and frankly — heavy. I tried the spreadsheets, the envelope systems, the strict no-spend rules. Nothing stuck because nothing felt sustainable.

Then I discovered the 50/30/20 framework and everything changed. Not because it's complicated — but because it's not. Fifty percent to needs, thirty percent to wants, twenty percent to savings and debt paydown. Simple. Flexible. Kind.

It gave me permission to spend on things I love while making sure my future was taken care of. Less guilt. Less overwhelm. More freedom.

I built BucketBudget because I wanted that feeling for other people too — especially people who are emotionally exhausted by money and just need a system that finally feels flexible and realistic. We love Dave Ramsey — we just think your budget should include the occasional latte.

Money is a tool for living a life you love. Not a source of shame. Not a punishment. A tool.

At BucketBudget we donate 5% of annual profits to causes supporting families and financial wellness — with a goal to reach 25% as we grow. We publish our giving totals every year because transparency matters to us.

We are just getting started. A mobile app and automatic bank account linking are on the way — because managing your money should fit seamlessly into your life, not the other way around. Thank you for being here from the beginning.
